Hi all! I hope you are enjoying Winter. It was downright cold here in Colorado for about 4-5 days (like a high of 15) and now we’re going to have a week in the 50′s. Oh how I love Colorado weather! Anyways, this week at Preschool is letter “Pp” week. We are of course learning about Penguins and played a super fun counting game.
I printed out the game cards numbered 1-12. I told the kids that the penguins were hungry and needed to be fed the correct amount of fish. We used Swedish fish, but you could also use Goldfish or pictures of fish.
I hope you and your little ones enjoy this counting game as much as we did!

Hi all! Happy Friday! I hope you are having a great New Year! Here is a fun paintin’ and countin’ project. (This is supposed to make you think of sippin’ and paintin’. Ha!) 
Months ago I pinned a cute idea using a set of pine needles to create snowflake stamps. It’s from Family Fun magazine I believe, but the link is no longer working. I’m sure you can find it on their page with a little digging. Anyways I couldn’t just leave it as a cute art project but wanted to extend it to include learning.
Right now we’re reviewing numbers 1-5 with my Preschool class before we move on to harder numbers. I decided to incorporate the cute idea above with some Math. I created a simple printable for students to put the correct amount of snowflake stamps in each section. Unfortunately after attempting the above craft I had a hard time finding a tree that had the needles going in a circle. Our sample stamps turned out terrible. Maybe you can find some in your neck of the woods, so we used these fluffy pom pom balls. 
They turned out a little more like snowballs than snowflakes, but they were fun none the less.

I can’t wait to show you the adorable home school space that I created for my daughter. Ready??? Here it is! 
It’s Thursday now and I have nearly completed my daughter’s first week of home school in conjunction with running my Preschool. Whew! It’s actually been really good and she has enjoyed helping out in the Preschool class. Besides that she’s practicing lots of life skills, like reading aloud to kids, engaging them in meaningful conversation and guiding them without giving answers.
Prior to the start of our week I created a special work space in my office for her. I just love all of the cubbies for her various classes and supplies and the color scheme is simply delicious! I was pretty lucky that I had everything already in my house except for the desk and the cubbies. I got those without breaking the bank at IKEA. Wahoo!
Of course I had to leave lots of space for her to display work, pictures of her family and reference sheets. You’ll see that even on day ONE we’ve already put up art work and projects.
This space is going to get LOTS of use, but is reserved for SCHOOL ONLY. She has her own “fun desk” space upstairs in our loft. This space is located in the basement right next to my desk. It has worked out perfectly so far! I hope God continues to bless this endeavor over the next 6 months! How about you? Do you home school or have you ever thought of doing it?
Hey all! I hope you had a blessed Christmas and are looking forward to a promising 2013! Our family didn’t write out “resolutions” but we made goals for 2013 in the areas of: relational goals, physical goals, educational goals and most importantly spiritual goals. My goals may not be exciting to others, but I love looking forward with continued hope and anticipation of what God is going to do in our lives. Here are a few of my 2013 Goals…
I just bought and opened Photoshop Elements 11 for the FIRST TIME EVER two days ago. I created the above in about 10 minutes. Not bad for a beginner… now to learn even more!

Yup, I’m here again with a post-Christmas, Christmas project. {Sigh, again} HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Pin this idea for Christmas next year. I love having my preschool students create a gift for their family that can be saved and used at Christmas year after year. This year we created Christmas Trivets. 
Don’t know what a trivet is? Well, it’s that thing you put on your wood table to protect it when you have a hot dish to serve.
We started with a 6×6 white tile from Home Depot. I think they were $0.48 each. I purchased cork contact paper to stick to the back to keep it from scratching that table you are trying to protect.
I had all of the kids paint a Christmas tree. I helped them with the tree part and they added their own ornaments and tree trunk.
Allow them to dry overnight. Next, use a protective clear coat of spray paint to protect their beautiful artwork. We painted giant pieces of paper and wrapped them up with a bow. Simple, but oh so cute!
